HOW IT STAYS ACCURATE

A small neural network — about 96 k parameters, small enough for any phone — reads a spectrogram of the signal and estimates the pitch. A probabilistic YIN tracker runs alongside it and vetoes the octave mistakes neural models sometimes make; together they catch each other's errors.
